Cleantech Estonia and TalTech Mektory are organizing a 24-hour hackathon, Climathon, on the 28-29th of October to solve our city’s most pressing environmental challenges.
The hackathon will take place at the TalTech Mektory Innovation Centre, where all innovative ideas are welcome. Climathon is the right place if you wish to kick-start your idea, receive feedback from experts and create new connections. You can come with your own team or join us to explore around and find a team that you wish to join.
Climathon will take place simultaneously in more than 100 cities around the world, making it unique from other hackathons. In each city, solutions will be found for local environmental problems.
“Tallinn has been selected as the European Green Capital 2023. The award recognises the city’s efforts to promote environmentally friendly urban living and sets more ambitious goals for environmental development. Events like Climathon accelerate green ideas that contribute to achieving those goals. Participating in Climathon is a great opportunity for each citizen to co-create solutions for an environmentally and human-friendly urban living environment,” Katerina Chantzi, Project Manager of Climathon Tallinn said.

“With Climathon we hope to bring together a group of changemakers to tackle the biggest environmental crises we are facing as humankind. The goal is to also implement bio and circular economy-related principles into the solutions created,” added Kaisa Hansen, co-organizer and the host of this year's Climathon.
Teams will present their solution to a panel of judges who will select the most promising ideas. In addition to the monetary prizes (by Startup Estonia), there is a chance to win three months of mentoring from Cleantech Estonia, access to the pre-accelerator programme of the cleantech business accelerator Beamline and the Prototron programme, six months of free co-working space in Mektory, a meeting with EstBAN business angel and tickets to sTARTUp Day.
This year, Climathon Tallinn is organized by Cleantech Estonia and TalTech Mektory.
